Bridgwater Operatic Society has announced a major coup in booking the world famous Black Dyke Band to perform for their major fundraising event in August.
The Black Dyke Band, the most famous brass band in the world, whose history can be traced back to 1816, will present a concert under its music director Professor Nicholas Childs on Sunday 18th August at 2.30pm in the magnificent setting of the newly appointed and refurbished St. Mary’s Church in Bridgwater.
With almost four hundred recordings to its name, an Oscar nomination for music and sell out concerts in the Sydney Opera House, New York’s Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall in London and to rave reviews on the Pyramid stage at the Glastonbury Festival the band will be sure to provide an afternoon of music making of the very highest quality.
A society representative commented,
“By bringing this world famous ensemble to Bridgwater we are showing our commitment to presenting the very finest artists for local people to enjoy and this year, given our drive to improve facilities at our headquarters, the band’s appearance is even more welcome!”
Tickets once again will be snapped up very quickly so early booking is essential in order not to miss this very special event.
