The Durleigh Road closure has caused a variety of problems for those trying to drive through that area, and in response to this, Wessex Water have released a video to explain what it is that they are doing and why.

For those wanting the concise version, the roadworks have been caused in an attempt to stave off flooding issues experienced by some of the homes on Durleigh Road. The huge disruption is due to the installation of a large storage shaft, which will improve the sewers.

While Wessex Water have tried their best to cause as little disruption as possible by doing this work during the summer holidays, due to there being 5 schools in the area, this will still be a problem as work is not expected to be completed until November 23rd (2018).
