Somerset Waste Partnership have announced that kerbside collections are two days later after Christmas:

  • Wednesday 25th December collections TODAY Friday 27th December from 7am
  • Thursday 26th December collections TOMORROW Saturday 28th December from 7am
  • Friday 27th December collections on Sunday 29th December from 7am
If there is windy weather on the day you put out, then please stack recycle boxes and put your locked food bin on top.

All usual sites open today, Friday 27th December 9am-5pm Bridgwater, Chard, Frome, Highbridge, Minehead, Somerton, Taunton, Wellington, Wells, Yeovil.

Sites closed today Friday 27th December: Castle Cary, Cheddar, Crewkerne, Dulverton, Street, Williton. Info: https://www.somersetwaste.gov.uk/recycling/centre.

Sites open as usual Saturday 28th December – Tuesday 31st December, and closed Wednesday 1st January.

For less rubbish and nothing lost in piles of paper and card from opened gifts, separate the card and real wrapping paper from any plastic, foil or glitter wrapping “paper”, throw away excess sticky tape, and put aside ribbons, string and bows for reuse (or add them to your tree).

Wrapping paper, brown paper and brown paper envelopes all go with cardboard (flatten boxes, cut up large sheets); plastic, foil and glitter wrapping goes in your rubbish. Card should be free from plastic bags or sheets, expanded polystyrene or bubble wrap, and have excess sticky tape removed.

If you take recycling and rubbish to recycling sites, be prepared, staff will be making a special effort to separate what can be recycled from what cannot.

Next week, recycling site staff and collection crews have only New Year’s Day off, so sites are open as usual from Thursday 2nd January onwards, while kerbside collections are one day later.

That means:
* Wednesday 1st January collections on Thursday 2nd January from 7am
* Thursday 2nd January collections on Friday 3rd January from 7am
* Friday 3rd January collections on Satursday 4th January from 7am
If there is bad weather, please stack recycle boxes and put locked food bin on top.

All usual sites open 9am-5pm Thursdat 2nd January: Bridgwater, Chard, Frome, Highbridge, Minehead, Somerton, Taunton, Wellington, Wells, Yeovil. Sites closed Thursdays: Castle Cary, Cheddar, Crewkerne, Dulverton, Street, Williton. All info: https://www.somersetwaste.gov.uk/recycling/centres.
