An exhibition and information session, designed to update people about the latest progress on the Bridgwater Tidal Barrier Scheme will be held on Friday, 7th December between 10am and 6.30pm in St Mary’s Church, Bridgwater.
The exhibition will explain what is proposed to be built, what it will look like, how it will work and the steps that are being taken to ensure that any impacts are kept to a minimum.
Staff from the Environment Agency and Sedgemoor District Council will be on hand to answer questions and listen to any comments or concerns.
Since the last exhibition in July 2017, proposals have been refined and progressed, taking into account the feedback. The exhibition will show the detail of the latest designs and ask for further feedback. This will be the opportunity for everyone to comment before the application to apply for the consents and permissions that are needed to build the barrier.
The Bridgwater tidal barrier and downstream defence works are important to support the sustainable growth and development of the town and to build business confidence. 11,300 homes will be protected as well as 1,500 non-residential properties such as shops and offices.
