At 4.55am this morning, 2nd October, two fire engines from Bridgwater, two from Burnham on Sea and a heavy rescue tender from Taunton, were all sent to a report of a road traffic accident that had gone across both carriageways.

On arrival crews confirmed that this was involving two vehicles and had initially crashed on the southbound carriageway. One vehicle in the southbound carriageway had no persons trapped, however the vehicle that had overturned onto the northbound carriageway had one person removed by ambulance personnel and one person still trapped inside.

Crews assisted the ambulance crew in getting the second casualty onto a spinal board, before making the vehicles safe. The incident was left in the hands of the police.
