Yesterday afternoon, 20th March 2019, we went along to the one-off free supper laid on by The Purplespoon Cafe, held within the YMCA, in the George Williams Centre.
Kate Gardiner, the owner of The Purplespoon Cafe told us,
“I rent the space from YMCA. My company has been running for 6 years doing private catering and I moved in to the YMCA 2 years ago, just to rent their kitchen as it wasn’t being used.
“The cafe we decided to open after.”
The event ran from 4-6pm, we arrived at 4.30pm and the place was buzzing with families, single people, couples, young and old, all came along to enjoy the food.
The choice of food ranged from curry to chilli, pizza to salad, with garlic bread, crusty bread and a choice of rice, jacket potato and wedges, plus teas and coffee.
We opted for the chilli and rice with crusty bread, everything was lovely, and very well cooked.
The staff were all really friendly and helpful.
Every Monday you can get a 2 course meal including tea and coffee for £5.50, booking is advised, 01278 726011. You can find out more information about The Purplepoon Cafe and their menus over on their website www.purplespoon.com
